Compare routes
- Up to 10 runners
- Charts with time difference and elevation comparison
- Easier to find runners, location search is done from your own course

- Draw route with freehand
- Speed estimates are now got from AI model which checks your map image and your track
- Also on Android
I released big updates to my app Control. This is work I have been doing on the side, evenings and weekends. And TBH, lot of it is written by Claude Code. Whether you like AI or not, the boost for productivity is real. I think without it, I wouldnt have done even 30% of the work I have done.
So what is there
- Completely new What If (also for Android)
- Compare Routes with better charts and up to 10 runners
- Cloud Sync
- Faster video
- And more!
Try round The Barbican!
Today I'm on Windows XP
Having focused the last few months on lower terrain Im now back to mapping a super detailed mountainous area.
Looking forward to watching people trying to maximize speed on the open areas while keeping up with the details!
SLU, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences has produced a report in regards to the impact of on ground/ground vegetation.
80% of the controls on the course today were thickets. The other 20% vegetation boundaries. Luckily I didn't make too many "off by one" errors.
I will be round the Secret Garden cemetery in Scarborough tomorrow as well as Peasholm Park and the north cliffs. Looking to run about 11km with a 215m climb over the course instead of the 6.6km course my age group is meant to run. Probably shouldn't go into the competition area to take photos, but a) looks more spooky at dusk and b) no-one that could declare me non-competitive follows me on the anyway
At 22:20 after night , it's time for wheat beer, sausage rolls and cherry cake in the campervan as preparation for tomorrow morning's race
It did indeed get dark enough for night and there was also a lovely view from the top of the hill across Scarborough south bay
Waiting for it to be dark enough to go night in Scarborough

Hyperlapse of my M50 Classic on the 144MHz band on the 2nd competition of the European Championships 2026
Demanding weather, demanding terrain, demanding fox-seeding, and demanding mapping resulted in a very *demanding* challenge to me.

During stage 5 of O-ringen.
Youth relay start. 230 teams!
Arrived to O-ringen camp yesterday. Rainy and windy night. Today we took the exercise Black 5 long at Vtterfjll. Superb map. Great fun.
Oh great, another "visionary" designer who thinks combining with and role-play will save the world. With the magical powers of cardboard and cosplay, is set to revolutionize... absolutely nothing.
I'm Making Strandfall, a Solarpunk Orienteering Larp
Comments:
to take my mind off the fact I hate exercising
Trningspass infr O-ringen. Vrens prio var Vtternrundan, s nu pgr omstllningen till skogslpning. Orientering r s kul, och det r fantastiskt att leta efter klubbar som erbjuder , bara att skriva ut kartan och springa. S vrdefullt. Dessutom var vdret mycket bra.
The club, OLV , turns 50 and the local devotes special exhibition to the occasion
It's a lovely day for the British Sprint Championships at the University of West England (apologies to my daughter in the photo)
I like to look at todays Idrefjllens 3-days orienteering 2nd day M50 from this perspective. The red fields mark controls to which athletes underperformed relative to their own running capacity.
It gets obvious that the rear half of the field got in serious troubles 5-6-7 control Oh Boy! I was totally lost
Beautiful views! Beats a scary graveyard
on the Jauerling, 960 m. 12 km with 650 m of EG. With the super experienced Army team. Brutal! Why am I doing this to myself
Looks like it!
Had a nightmare I missed a control during the rogaine yesterday because I just didn't see it on the map. Double checked this morning, and I only missed ones I intentionally skipped.
in the . For me, 14 km with 260 m EG. Ive gotten used to the tiny map scale, I now realize that its much harder to focus on the essentials when using detailed O maps. Several times I had to cover 1 km+ through hilly, swampy thickets, and the control was waiting for me at the right distance, just 10 m off my bearing! But in the swampy sections, I really didnt feel like running. Post-race analysis, Waldviertel-style: Youre a wimp.
Orienteringen p behver jobba p sin kartgrafik nr det gller stadssprint.
Dag 171 / Day 171It is far, far too hot to be in Canterbury, so that's what I'm doing, of course. 4 races over 3 days during an amber weather warning.
