Home of the GoGain App

It is 10Mila time this weekend!

Here's a test of magnanimity. Your son beats you at on his first attempt at the sport. He does much better than you thought he would, even taking account of his faster running. What do you feel Damn, he beat me, or, what a great achievement, what's not to celebrate I managed the latter - just!

Here are the rotation and fixed frame demonstrated

Some overdue improvements for my app just dropped. Video editor takes next level: you can

- Rotate & zoom the video
- Decide between a fixed frame or centered one
- Change dot and line color, width
- Change video aspect ratio & resolution

I have been feeling a bit down lately. All kinds of illnesses are attacking me constantly. Again feverish days. But I get much enjoyment when I am watching my Control Club feed right now. I have Matthias Kyburz, Simona Aebersold and Minna Kauppi posting their trainings

One good thing about technology and data is it allows you to accurately quantify how much you mess up. I've finally looked at my route analysis from JK relays: clearly mentally not in the game for control 1. Will have to make up for it on Beacon Hill tonight...

Last time i ran in an relay was Spring Cup 2000 in Denmark, a quarter century ago. My dibber had only 5 digits (37266), my knees worked, I was in a team of friends, and I trained and raced nearly every week. Things change! It was fun to see how it's changed, and fun to hurtle with a pack (but not fun to foul up the first control badly). There should be more relays.

Well that's the whole Jan Kjellstrm International Festival of Orienteering over for another year . Thanks to all the volunteers and excellent organisation

Day 2, let's go . Today is middle distance race at Tankersley, intricate contour time. The best prep does not involve sharing a hotel room with my kids.

I managed to survive without any emotional distress

I might bump into you there. Or I might just be stuck crying at the bottom of a set of stairs given the map complexity

Good luck to anyone in the world who is off to the centre of Sheffield today for JK day 1 - sprint discipline international race in the city centre, with trams, ebikes, canals, a public holiday, and presumably one of the longest risk assessment forms ever submitted!

Moseley Green 1988 . The eastern part was covered by the 1973 Oakenhill Wood map of variable scale infamy.

My last reason to keep Windows on one last laptop just disappeared: hardware now works fine for me with and . What did it was: wine regedit (cf. superuser.com question 619528) and usermod dialout and tty (don't remember where I found the info). It wasn't a big deal really, just try and find out if you're interested. I only do trial and error myself, almost no background knowledge at all. all in all ok, too, although slightly inconvenient.

It's a lovely afternoon for in . We're hoping for a good turnout!

If you're near tomorrow (Saturday 5th) and would like to try , come along to Coldham's Common between 1pm and 3pm. Courses planned by me.

Guten Morgen zum Weinberg in .

Kul att orienteringsssongen r igng igen.

Yesterday was the first time I arranged an training without using Purple Pen or OCAD, instead all courses set in the browser using my own O-Scout software. Still far from feature complete, but actually sort of useful now.

Sounds glorious for a bit of . I wonder what financial state some of the golf courses around here are in and whether the town has its eyes on them

"Another sport to add to the mix". Chuffed at the coverage. Shame they completely ignored a World Championship of another sport. One taking place literally on their doorstep in Holyrood.

Orienteering

Super day this weekend running an race with my kid ( to be more precise). Beautiful views of Miravet and some cool plants but I couldn't stop to take many pictures!

The one Peter Gabriel did not write a song about......

Bannerdown 1976. are big on and I can remember them running coaches to events. Lots of Letratone on this one.
I have not seen any recent maps of the area.

Strines 1978. A very fine runnable forest used for the relay. Now the western part has been turned into moorland and the area has long since disappeared from fixture lists.
This race was in snow.

Wharncliffe 1978
individual with M17 course. Lots of rock features in an area often wheeled out by for big events.

First event I've done in Devon for 10 years, on the weirdly named Virtuous Lady. Very annoyed to have made 4 mistakes, each of which cost me first place. Still happy with 3rd, despite how unfit I am. Great area though, and superb organisation. Thx Devon O.

A magnificient morning in the woods with a good friend out on a treasure hunt - even though it was bitingly cold, and we got lost multiple times and ended up being the last people to finish the race, it was all good fun and so worth it to bask in this wonderful winter sunshine

The first of this year. -1C In the city and city park. The guy at the start didn't have a day, so plenty of people got maps of the wrong category, including me, and we all realized that at the first checkpoint. :D So I ran 6 km instead of 4.2 km :D and didn't even end up last.

Looks like a reasonable day to put on an event for newcomers and families

Did I have fun this weekend Yes.
Am I now covered in poison oak Also yes.

Congratulations to Oxf*rd on winning the Varsity match

Just finished the Cambridge vs Oxford Varsity match in the amazing Studlands Dunes. Tricky navigation in the dunes and lots of heather and gorse

Sport of Orienteering Taking Off in TaiwanTaiwanPlus News

I think this might be one of the coolest thing I have ever made...

It is a of in for visually impaired, designed as a game. Which one can attach on forearm and rotate.

Sometimes, there are brambles, because while this is the best area available, we have actually nothing I would call 'a good area'. Anyway, running through this in the pitch dark should slow the fast ones down, while it doesn't really affect the slower ones. Appropriately, this is in a shallow depression.

Next, some boulders are just super cute and put there by the universe in order that they can be control sites. Tidy.
